Budgeting – how is it working for you?

If you are like most of us, we all dislike keeping track of receipts and having to account for every cent we spend! This becomes a necessary evil when our finances are out of control. The only way you can get back control is to look at your spending habits.
The best way to track your spending habits is to list down every time you spend money – it’s not always about forecasting and knowing where your money is going, that turns up when you start to track. Once you start the tracking process it then becomes a game of how can I get my money to work for me rather than me working for my money!
Now this is where magic takes place, not really just good old-fashioned truth and hard work. It’s all about your mental attitude. If you think you can change your life you will! All you need is someone to show you how.
It never works tracking where your money has gone – the past is the past, let’s leave it there. What we want to get a clear picture on is where you are spending your money and learn to make better decisions as to whether what you want to buy is ‘urgent’ or really “just a want.”
Once we know your budget and can see your habits (takes about 2-3 weeks) we then focus on cashflow and teaching the principals on correct debt reduction. This focus is all about not having amounts coming out of your account every 2-3 days but rather making sure the cash stays in your account and that you are not prepaying bills etc. until they are due.

So there’s budgeting and then there is cash flow – hard to get cashflow without understanding your budget.

The most important thing is you don’t necessarily have to go without – but in most cases it is that lack of mentality that is causing the lack of cashflow.
